One of Northern Ireland’s newest craft brewers, Mourne Mountains Brewery is getting into the festive spirit with the launch of a brand new beer, The First Noël, to celebrate their first Christmas in business.

The First Noël is an amber lager-style beer, and Master Brewer Tom Ray has incorporated a range of seasonal ingredients including fresh orange peel and citrusy American hops, and spiced it with cloves for a truly festive feel and flavour to accompany the season.

Connaire McGreevy, Founder of Mourne Mountains Brewery said: “As this is our first Christmas as a brewery, we wanted to do something special to mark the occasion, so it was only right that we took the opportunity to create another special seasonal brew.

“Not only that, but with a recent new arrival to the Mourne Mountains Brewery family with the birth of my first nephew Lewis, we thought it would be a great way to start the celebrations and mark the occasion.

“Following the success of our Pumpkin Porter at Halloween, Tom has been working hard to develop The First Noël and the end result is a rich and warming spiced amber lager. At 6% ABV, it combines spices and hints of orange to create a flavour that ties in perfectly with the season and is sure to bring out the festive cheer.

“It’s something different and we hope that it encourages more people out there to try the great range of local craft beers on offer.

“So give yourself an early Christmas present a grab a bottle. It’s a one off, limited run brew however, and it will only be available while stocks last in bars restaurants and off licences across Northern Ireland, so don’t miss out.

“The First Noël will also be part of our Christmas gift packs that will be in stores from the start of December, and they are the perfect gift for any discerning hop head,” he added.

Alongside their seasonal specials, Co. Down based Mourne Mountains Brewery produces three core beers: Mourne Gold pale ale, Red Trail red IPA and Big Rock wheat beer. They are available both on draft and in bottles.
